Trips ‘n Travels: What to bring from your travels?

DSC_0374

When I go on a holiday, I can’t help myself… I have to buy something… a souvenir, wine, clothes,… whatever. I just cannot leave without a reminder of a marvelous trip!

But what do you bring from your travels which makes you look back on a fabulous holiday?

1.Food and drinks

When we go on a holiday, we often buy regional products: wine, olives, sausages,… When we go to the UK, my husband likes to buy a bottle of whiskey at the duty-free as it’s much cheaper. Make sure that when travelling by plane, you check whether you can take food in your luggage!!

2.Beauty products

Sometimes I buy beauty products, especially when they can’t be bought in my own country (or are way more expensive). Fragonard perfume, Nuxe oil,… these things I tend to buy when in France! When you travel by plane, you can always buy at the duty-free!

3.Postcards

I don’t often buy postcards anymore… my daughter does. She likes to buy postcards from all her travels and she has pinned them all on a board in her room. It is actually quite cool to look at! I sometimes buy postcards from places/houses we visit of which we cannot take pictures indoors. Then I stick these postcards in the photo album I make of our holiday.

4. Jewellery

I sometimes buy jewellery. In Amsterdam I bought this beautiful bracelet with matching earrings for instance. And when visiting Buckingham Palace I just couldn’t leave that giftshop without a stunning pair of pearl earrings… When wearing them, it takes me back to a lovely citytrip!

5.Clothes

Dress: Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, France           Clutch: Chatsworth House, Derbyshire, England.

I often buy clothes when we are on a holiday or on a weekend break. Honestly, when I open my cupboard I can say ‘oh I bought that dress on our weekendbreak in Utrecht’… ‘this LBD is from Saint-Rémy de Provence and this one I bought in the Marais neighbourhood in Paris’… ‘these shoes I bought near Centre Pompidou in Paris’… ‘this cute dress is from Amsterdam’… I love it… every garment is a little trip down memory lane 🙂

6.Presents

I like to buy presents when I’m on holiday. I often buy little things for my Australian friend Katelijne. Things that are typical for the city or country that I am in. I know she adores these little European knick knacks.

7.Books

At least 3/4th of these are bought in quaint second hand bookshops in England!

No bookshop is safe for me… whenever we visit towns and cities or even little villages and I come across a bookshop I just have to take a look inside! Especially in those quaint little second hand bookshops. No doubt I find at least one pageturner to add to my collection… And my eldest daugter and son have inherited this addiction 🙂

What do you like to bring home from your holidays? Let me know in the comments below!

Love, Kathleen

Here you can see a fashionpost about a dress I bought at a cute little shop in Brighton.
