During our 5-day holiday break, we made a stop in Shaftesbury, Dorset. Now this is such a lovely and charming village… Just check out the pictures in this post and you’ll want to see for yourself, I’m sure 🙂

After our visit to Highclere Castle (of which you could read a travelpost last week), we stopped in Shaftesbury. We wanted to go to a pub to have a bite to eat, but in the end we decided to just stroll around this lovely little town and eat in the Crown Inn, a pub in Marnhull which was only a 2 minute ride from our holiday home (read this post!).

However, we did manage to have a peek at this beautiful village in Dorset, known for it’s winding little streets up- and downhill! Unfortunately the weather had been grey that day, so I didn’t have the views I actually wanted. But even in this dull weather Shaftesbury looked ever so charming! I will let the pics speak for themselves…

First you see a couple of pictures of the village…

… and then of course there is Gold Hill which must be one of the best known streets in England. This charming, cobbled, up hill street gives you fabulous views of the surroundings, leaving you completely breathless (not only because of those spectacular views but also from climbing up the hill I must admit!!!).

We didn’t stay for very long, but I must say that I really was charmed by this little town and I can definitely recommend visiting it when in the neighbourhood!
