Trips ‘n Travels: France – Christmas in Paris (part II)

Well last week you could gawk at some pretty fabulous pictures in the first part of the travelpost ‘Christmas in Paris’. Today I treat you on part II so make yourself comfortable to go on a journey with me to beautiful Paris…

After our visit to Galeries Lafayette, we walked past the Opéra Garnier, which is such an impressive building as you could already see on the pics taken from the Galeries Lafayette rooftop terrace last week (picture above: it’s the building on the left). But walking past it, makes you realise just how big this building actually is. One day I hope to see a ballet in there…

Next stop was Place Vendôme with an array of beautiful buildings, shops and of course the Ritz hotel and then it was on to the Louvre.

On this day I saw many things I already saw before, but I let my daughter choose what to see and do. Anyway, as I hadn’t seen Paris in all its Christmas glory, I couldn’t be bothered how many times I had already seen these sights… at Christmas time everything just looks different, doesn’t it?!

After a short break at a tiny tearoom (Angelina was obviously fully booked so we had to find another place to satisfy our sweet teeth!), we continued our walk. We passed the Palais Royal and its Colonnes de Buren, which is an art installation by French artist Daniel Buren. The colonnes can be found on the inner courtyard of the palais.

We walked towards Les Halles, which was a fresh food market up until 1970. Since 2016 you can now find a new architectural building of 5 floors which contains a shopping mall, a library, a cinema, a hip hop centre,…

I had read that there was a Christmas market at les Halles. Now I don’t know where this Christmas market was supposed to be situated, but we didn’t exactly find it. I must admit that we didn’t look for long as we were amazed by the multitude of shops in this place… so we went shopping instead of looking for a Christmas market 🙂

For my daughter we bought two pairs of trousers and for me… well… let’s just say that I enjoyed myself at Sephora and at a local pharmacy! I only bought beauty products on this daytrip and I will do a beauty shoplog soon!

After the shopping, we were tired and hungry (as one gets after some serious physical exercise!!). My daughter really wanted to eat pizza and what did we come across when leaving Les Halles? A lovely little pizzeria where we indulged ourselves in a freshly made pizza.

At 7.30 we started our walk towards the Bateaux Mouches where we would catch our bus back home… but not without taking many ‘Paris by night’ pictures of course 🙂

We thoroughly enjoyed our day out and I loved how I could have an entire day of quality time with my youngest daughter.

Enjoy the rest of the pics you can find beneath this post and see you next time!

Love, Kathleen
