Last Saturday I went on a day trip to my favorite city… Paris!
Whenever I can, I visit this fab metropolis and living in Belgium gives me the opportunity to visit Paris regularly… even for a daytrip. Of course staying for a couple of days is even better, but I am glad to be able to take the bus or train and go for just a day with whoever wants to join me… my sisters, my daughters and this time I went with one of my best friends, Katrien. This is the third and final post on Normandy. In the first post, I told you more about gardens in Normandy, in the second post, I took you to the D-day beaches and this third post is about the harbour towns of Deauville, Trouville and Honfleur.
It is possible to visit these 3 towns in just one day as we did, but then you’ll just have time to get an overall feel and do some sightseeing… and you better start quite early ! Read about our trip to these harbour towns!
Last week’s Normandy post was all about gardens and nature. But Normandy is so much more than that. To many, Normandy equals D-day… so when in Normandy, make sure to find some time to spend on Word War II sites !
Mind, you can easily fill a week going from one museum to another monument, from one cemetery to another landing beach… As we didn’t have much time, I just picked three D-day-things to do : Arromanches, the German battery at Longues-sur-Mer and the American cemetery at Colleville-sur-Mer. Last week we went to Normandy. We only went for 5 days which means we will have to go back one fine day as there are so many things to see and do in this part of France… cozy villages and harbor towns, beautiful gardens, grand chateaus, cities full of history and culture, D-day beaches, rugged coastline and so much more ! In the next few tips ‘n trips posts, you can read more about what we visited on our trip to La Douce France.
Today I will tell you a bit more about 2 gardens we visited : Giverny and Les Jardins du Pays d’Auge. Read more about the gardens we visited in Normandy!
A couple of weeks ago I went on a daytrip to the City of Lights… aka Paris !
Paris really is my favorite city. It oozes elegance and charm and I really like to stroll around and just soak up the atmosphere.
Now this last time, I went with my 2 daughters Charlotte (18) and Elizabeth (12). So it really was a girl’s day out ! The sun was shining so we took advantage of this beautiful weather and walked for miles and miles. We saw heaps of beautiful spots and places, but this time I will tell you about 2 things that really stood out for me that day and aren’t the typical tourist spots : afternoon tea at Hotel Daniel and a visit to Parc Monceau.
