Fashion: The culottes

Posted on Updated on

A couple of weeks ago I did it… I bought a pair of black culottes !

I found the perfect pair at & Other Stories in Antwerp. I really love this brand (Other Stories) ! They’ve got trendy yet affordable clothes, shoes and accessories so once in a while I cannot help myself… I’ve got to check what new things they’ve got in store…

This time it was my daughter’s fault though… she had seen some black leather Vans which were sold in & Other Stories so off we went. After 5 minutes she had her Vans and I was like “I’m just going to have a look around…”. Fortunately my daughter and my husband were really patient as I tried on several things, but it were the culottes I fell in love with immediately !  Read more about this outfit !

Belgium: Antwerp – flower carpet

Posted on Updated on

here’s a trip-tip for the quick : today and tomorrow you can still admire the flower carpet at the Grote Markt in Antwerp. It was designed by Anne-Mie Van Kerckhoven. On Saturday 13th June, flowers and plants will be handed out to the visitors.

It is one of many events organized to celebrate the 450th anniversary of the town hall. I enclose the link for more details (link). Below you see a few images.

Today’s quote : happiness

“Whoever is happy, will make others happy too” – Anne Frank

The Westertoren, near the hiding place of Anne Frank. The bells chimed every 15 mins, which soon gave Anne a familiar feeling which comforted her.

Today’s quote is from Anne Frank, a joyous teenager who had to live in miserable circumstances. I’m sure that due to her vivid character, she made life at “Het Achterhuis” (link), the hiding place in Amsterdam she lived in during the second world war, a bit more liveable for the other 7 inhabitants.

Anne Frank would’ve turned 86 today if it weren’t for Bergen-Belsen in 1945. Her diary was one of my favorite novels when I was a teenager. I read it several times and her strong character continued to amaze me. I recently bought the book for my children as I want them to read this piece of history that may never be forgotten !

France: Paris – Parc Monceau and Hotel Daniel

La tour Eiffel – c’est toujours belle !

A couple of weeks ago I went on a daytrip to the City of Lights… aka Paris !

Paris really is my favorite city. It oozes elegance and charm and I really like to stroll around and just soak up the atmosphere.

Now this last time, I went with my 2 daughters Charlotte (18) and Elizabeth (12). So it really was a girl’s day out ! The sun was shining so we took advantage of this beautiful weather and walked for miles and miles. We saw heaps of beautiful spots and places, but this time I will tell you about 2 things that really stood out for me that day and aren’t the typical tourist spots : afternoon tea at Hotel Daniel and a visit to Parc Monceau. Today’s quote : Paris

“Paris is always a good idea” – Audrey Hepburn T

Paris is always a good idea.

his is unmistakenly one of my favorite quotes. Probably for two reasons : one, it is a quote from Audrey Hepburn and wasn’t she one of the most iconic, stylish women on earth ? And two because it is a quote about Paris, definitely my favorite city. Do keep an eye on this blog as very soon I will give you some Paris tips, because frankly… isn’t Paris always a good idea ?!
