Today’s quote : goals and dreams

You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream – C.S. Lewis

This photo was taken in April when we were on a holiday in the beautiful Peak District in England.

Sometimes you read about a 70-year old getting a driver’s license, a 80-year old graduating at university, a 55-year old changing his too-stressed job for something he had always dreamt of doing, a young family leaving everything and everyone behind to start a new life on the other side of the world,…

I admire these people. They’ve got the courage to change something they weren’t happy about. It often takes a lot of guts to do so. People will think they’re mad to leave their safe surroundings, the certainty of a good job and change all this for an uncertain future. But the people who dare to change probably put a lot of thought in what they’re about to do. It probably isn’t just a whim… and actually it often turns out fantastically for these people, these dare-devils.

I’m someone who wouldn’t dare to take such life-changing actions. But then I think this quote is not just about changing big things like your job or the country where you live. This quote is also about smaller things, things that aren’t perhaps that important for somebody else, but mean a great deal for yourself.

For me personally that would be my blog…. now this might not be such a big thing in other people’s eyes but to me it is ever so important. I put a lot of thought into it. I didn’t just start this blog overnight. It is something I love doing and I can commit myself 100% to it. It is something I can be proud of. I set goals, I plan posts, I write texts, I try new things, do new stuff, visit different places, meet new people.

Everything I do now, I think ‘can I use this for my blog ?’. This blog was a dream I had for some time… so 44 years old or not… I had the courage to start. I didn’t care what others might think about it. And actually… it turns out to be something I am proud of.  And it certainly is something I love doing!

Do you have goals, dreams ? Do you have things you want to achieve ? Remember… you’re never too old to do so… I dare you!

    1. Hahaha!!! I have that constantly… when we’re going out on a trip I’m thinking… ‘what can I wear that hasn’t been on my blog yet and that can be interesting for an outfit-of-the-week post!’ or which cafe can we go to where I can take a photo… Isn’t it fab to have a blog!? Love, Kathleen

      1. Same here. I love having a blog. My husband thinks I’m crazy because I’m always taking pictures of everything. He doesn’t think people would want to see what I eat or where I go but I enjoy seeing these post from other people so I know someone will like my post. haha

  1. This was such a great inspiring read! I have about 10 goals that I’m working towards at the moment. I wrote them on a beautiful card and look at them every morning. There is nothing like fulfilling one of those goals! As a teenager, I always wanted to be a model, but my insensitive dad always stomped all over that idea. Finally, at age 37, my photographer friend encouraged me to join a modelling agency and I’m so glad I did! I also will be signing up for a photography course too…something I’ve always wanted to do. Crossed “visiting Italy” of my goal list too!

    1. It is so much fun to be able to cross things of the list… good for you! And I’m glad you decided to join a modelling agency. You absolutely look fab… and look at you now… modelling away like a pro! Good luck on the photography course… being on the other side of the camera is also very nice 😉 Love, Kathleen

  2. That quote is so true, and you write so well! I’ve realized overtime that my ultimate dream seems to remain the consistent, but my exact methods for accomplishing it have altered! Soul is consistent, behavior and taste are subject to constant change.

    1. Thanks for your kind words… and you are right… people change, but dreams rarely do. If I look at my dreams that I have now and those I have accomplished so far… they haven’t really changed over the years… they are perhaps a bit altered, but they’re mainly the same. Luckily I have accomplished some of them and I hope I will accomplish some more… and I hope for you the same !! Love, Kathleen
