Beauty ‘n Fashion: A designer dress

Today I will tell you a bit more about the outfit I wore last week to my colleague’s wedding reception… I decided to wear a designer dress and paired it with some flashy accessories!

Now I really like designer dresses…  a lot… They are just way better quality than high street fashion… the fabric, the quality… everything is so much better! Unfortunately my bank account is not very cooperative when it comes to buying designer stuff… But I seek solace during the sales or at outlet villages (like Maasmechelen Village of which you could read here!).

And on one of my super sale shopping sprees I found this beauty… It’s from British designer Paul Smith. The dress is a bit quirky because of the different colours and prints, but when I tried it on it was just perfect for my body type… so off to the cash register!

This 100% silk dress is of a very good quality and the details are just stunning. It has got a lot of pleats and it closes with a distinctive zipper at the back. I wear this dress throughout the year. In summer I wear it as it is, in winter I add a soft woollen vest and tights.

Because of the various colour palette, I can combine this dress with a lot of different colours : red, mustard, black, burgundy,… but for this occassion I wore it with my ab fab electric blue Dorothy Perkins sandals and my equally fab clutch I bought at Chatsworth House whilst on holiday in the Peak District.

The sandals are just to die for… I really wanted a pair like this and I was hesitating between a nude pair and these fab blue sandals. I am so glad now that I chose these… I just love the colour and I can actually combine them with a whole lot. Like with this Paul Smith dress… I just love how the blue of the sandals comes back in the dress.

The cluth is another favourite accessory of mine. You’ve seen it in several outfits already and no doubt it will be in much more to come. It is such a fantastic fashion piece… this electric blue suede clutch… and perfect to wear with this dress, don’t you think so?

I kept the jewels minimalistic. Just a couple of golden bracelets and my golden earrings.

My butterfly-shaped sunglasses are from Max and co. The optician who sold me these sunglasses said that not a lot of people can wear this kind of shape… Oh well… it was probably some kind of sales trick in which he succeeded really well, but hey… I rock these sunnies don’t I 😀

Yip… quite happy with this party outfit… what do you think of it? Let me know in the comments below!

Love, Kathleen

Here you see another outfit with this clutch!

And here you can read a post about Chatsworth House, the estate in the Peak District where I bought this clutch.
