Fashion: Down jacket

Today’s look is all about my down jacket I bought last winter at the Esprit sale.

I normally wear a woollen coat in winter, but that isn’t always comfortable or even warm enough to wear when going for a walk in the midst of winter. We were planning a holiday to the English Peak District the first week of April and as you never know what weather the beginning of April will bring in the Midlands, I thought it would be a good idea to buy a coat that I could wear when walking in the Peak District as well. As it turned out, I only had to wear this coat on the first day as the other days it was so warm! We even got sunburnt 😀

But anyway… this coat… I wanted to buy a timeless, good quality coat as I intend to wear it several years. So I opted for a knee-length black quilted down coat, with a detachable hood. The hood is rimmed with fake fur.

I thought I wouldn’t wear this coat very much as it isn’t as stylish as my woollen coat… but I must admit that I wear it more often then I thought I would! Especially on cold, wet days and when running for errands practicality comes before style… and that means that I can spare my woollen coat a bit!

For this look I am wearing my coat with a skinny and some boots. Really casual, really simple, really down to earth… but oh so comfortable!

What kind of winter coat do you prefer? A woollen coat or a down jacket? Or something else?

Love, Kathleen

In this outfit I am wearing the same black boots.

And here you can see my fab blue woollen coat!
