Quote of the day : a handful of friends

“I cannot even imagine where I would be today were it not for that handful of friends who have given me a heart full of joy. Let’s face it, friends make life a lot more fun!’ – Charles R. Swindoll

Paris in springtime

Friends… you often can count the very best on the fingers of just one hand… luckily a couple of good friends is all you need in your life.

My best friends are people I can really and truly trust, people who make time for me and I make time for them, people who cheer me up when I’m feeling down and vice versa, people who I can do silly with, people who I can talk to for hours on end.

There are no awkward silences and we always know what to say to eachother, but we also know when to shut up an listen to the other, we feel when something is wrong and sometimes even silence can do the trick.

The good thing about real friendship is that it doesn’t matter how often you see eachother. I’ve got a couple of friends who I really don’t see much, but the fun part is that we don’t count how many days that have passed since we last saw eachother as time is of no issue. We just start chatting and time just floats by unnoticed.

And then I am lucky enough that a lot of my good friends are or became family… my sisters, my sisters-in-law, my brothers-in-law,… I love each and every one of them and I’m always glad we have another family gathering as we all get along so well.

True friendship is so important, it’s so rare, but it is oh so necessary! I don’t know what I would do without my handful of friends and I want to thank them all from the bottom of my heart that I can call them my friend…

Love, Kathleen
