When on a holiday or a day trip I like to visit a park or garden. So I have decided to dedicate three travelposts on must-visit parks and gardens. Today I take you to England.
The English know a thing or two about gardening, so whenever we’re crossing the channel, we visit at least one park or garden. Over the past years we have admired many stunning pieces of landscaping and here are just a few…
London – Hampton Court Gardens
Where
Hampton Court Gardens are the gardens of Hampton Court, one of the Historic Royal Palaces in England. They are situated in the south of London. So when you’re in London and you want to escape the hustle and bustle of the capital, you know where to go!
Why
Royal splendour!

The proof…
(and as you can see on the pics… it’s always such bad weather in England…)
Disley – Lyme
Where
Lyme Park can be found in the north of the Peak District, not far from Stockport and Manchester.
Why
For Mr Darcy of course… the die hard Pride and Prejudice fans might know this house better as Darcy’s Pemberley as the exterior of this house is used in the BBC adaption!
That lake… you’re just waiting for him to come out of it! That courtyard… you’re just waiting for him to run down the stairs to meet you… fat chance 😀

Grasmere – Rydal Mount
Where
Rydal Mount, the house and gardens of English poet William Wordsworth, lies right in the middle of the Lake District in the North of England.
Why
Up- and downhill garden in lucious green!

Grange-over-Sands – Holker Hall & Gardens
Where
Holker Hall and Gardens can be found in the south of the beautiful Lake District, in Northern England.
Why
There’s an abundance of rare plants and beautiful borders. I especially liked the ‘wilder’ ones, which are typically English.

I hope you liked this post full of greenery… next week we’re off to France!

Zalig! Het zicht alleen al! Wij verkenden Kent al een beetje maar Engeland verbergt nog massa’s prachtige plekken!
