“We are homesick most for the places we have never known.”- Carson McCullers

I am lucky enough to be able to make trips regularly. I am lucky enough to live in a place from where I can easily travel to fab destinations like Paris, Amsterdam, London… but that doesn’t mean that I can go wherever I go, whenever I want to… I wish!
I’d like to see the world yes… America, Canada, Asia,… but I’m not homesick for these places. So I can live with the fact that I will probably never visit these places in real.
But when I think about Australia, I get a lump in my throat and it wouldn’t take me long to get tears in my eyes… I know it sounds silly but I really and truly am homesick for this country.
I have planned imaginary trips to this Great Southern Land so many times, but I haven’t been able to visit it… yet… because the older I get, the more determined I become…
Sooner or later I will set foot on Australian soil and I just know that it will be love at first sight… that Australia will not disappoint me… Sooner or later I will say “G’day” and drink a XXXX… Sooner or later I will do that sunset balloon trip above Ayers Rock… I will go snorkling in the Great Barriar reef… sailing in Sydney harbour… riding the “Puffing Billy” in the Dandenong Ranges… do a 4WD safari in Kakadu National Park… visiting my friend Katelijne’s hometown Canberra and let her be my guide…
Sooner or later I will do it… I will set foot on a plane to fly to the other side of the world… I will have tears in my eyes whilst flying towards this country… I will see my friend Katelijne again and hug her so hard!
I cannot explain why… but I am homesick for a country I have never ever been to… and I will stop here for now as my eyes are filling up as I am writing this post…
Sooner or later…
Love, Kathleen
Here you can read a quote about my long distance friendship with Katelijne!
Oh how I would love to go to Australia too, I can totally relate to this.

Yes, on my places to see before I die too 🙂 I always say to myself I need to travel more but then get caught up in the madness of every day life again (and my Fulltime job). But one day 😉

I totally get it, I had the same feeling about New Zealand. And I made it happen, I was there for a whole month last year. If you get the chance, don’t hesitate and book that trip! Now I’m nostalgic when I see the photos and I would love to return. But there are still so many other beautiful countries to see. Like Australia, I would love to go there too in a few years.
