During the last days of 2017 I wrote a post in which I revealed my goals for 2018. You can read that post here. After two months I wrote my first update and on this first day of May, it’s time for a second update!
Really… these updates might just be a bit boring for you guys to read… sorry not sorry! I admit that I write these more for myself! That way, I force myself to take a look at how I’m doing… well let’s find out how March and April went…
Exercise
It’s been very quite in this department I must admit… My itention was to go to the gym every week, but I just didn’t get around doing that to be honest! Partly because of my health, partly because of the fact that I was extremely busy at work which made me so exhausted at night and partly because I just didn’t feel like going!
It’s not that I didn’t do anything you know: I have gone to the gym a couple of times, I have gone for a walk in my neighbourhood several times. We moved with the office to another building which meant A LOT of physical exercise and the last days of April were filled with many steps a day as I went to Madrid on a citytrip which of course includes lots of wandering around!
But I must admit… I could have done better these past few months… waaaaaaaay better… and it is my goal to give you a more positive report in my next update!!
Drink and eat wisely
During the first two months of 2018 I became more aware of my eating and drinking habits. During March and April though I had lots and lots of festivities which made it extremely hard to persevere! I lacked motivation, so there were too many moments of wining and dining uncontrollably…
So this is another department where it didn’t go all according to plan I must admit!!! I promise you that by the next update I’ve done better 🙂
Start saving for my Australia trip
Phew… here I’ve got some good news I’m happy to say 😀 When I bought the piggy bank, I thought it would be gathering dust instead of coins. But Miss Piggy has become part of the family and I gave her a spot where she doesn’t get in our way, but she doesn’t get unnoticed either! That way she makes sure I feed her at regular times… Australia is getting closer one euro at a time!
Read 12 books
And this is also a goal in which I am doing good! My goal of 12 books is well within reach. Four months have passed and so far I have read 5 books and my 6th one is well on its way.
Books I’ve read so far:
1.’Het Smelt’ by Lize Spit (review)
2.’The Nightcircus’ by Erin Morgenstern (review)
3. ‘Eat, pray, love’ by Elizabeth Gilbert
4. ‘The only girl in the world’ by Maude Julien (review)
5. ‘The last days of Rabbit Hayes’ by Anna McPartlin
Currently reading ‘My brilliant friend’ by Elena Ferrante.
Quality time with friends and family
I have spent many lovely moments with my nearest and dearest so I’ve been doing extremely well with this goal I’m glad to say!
These past couple of months I’ve had a diner and bowling night with my colleagues, I went on a daytrip with my husband to celebrate our 24th wedding anniversary, I attented two concerts (Harry Styles with my daughters and The Killers with my best friend), we had the most fabulous easter lunch with my husband’s family, we celebrated my husband’s 50th birthday (twice!!) and my nephew’s 21st and last but not least I ended April in Madrid on a 4-day citytrip with my youngest daughter and one of her friends.
So you see, not doing bad at all here now am I 🙂
My good, fab and lovely blog
I sometimes wish I could make a fulltime job out of my blog. I love blogging so much that it actually never feels like a chore. How lucky am I to have a hobby that gives me so much pleasure… and that’s mainly thanks to you, my lovely readers! You keep me going and you keep me inspired!
And to thank all of you, I will host a giveaway really soon… keep checking my blog so you won’t miss it!
Keep watch over my stress level
It’s been quiet stressful at work I must admit. We’ve been extremely busy as our department suddenly had to move to another building. We only had about 6 weeks time to arrange our move, but we managed to do so. And now we’re in our new office it still takes a bit of getting used to, but I guess we’ll settle in more quickly than we first imagined!
There will still be changing a lot these coming months, so I’ll have to keep on watching myself, protecting myself. But I feel like I’ve got it under control. Ever since having that burn-out three years ago, I’m aware when I’m going too far or when I’m pushing body and mind. I really try to listen to that to prevent myself… So far so good!
In March I followed another workshop for my job. It was a workshop on how to speak in front of a public. I learned heaps and I enjoyed it so much! It really gave my confidence a boost and I must say that I like standing in front of a group. Mind, it does give me stress of course, but actually it gives me the right amount of adrenaline and I hope that I get the opportunity to do this more often in future.
So I am really glad to say that in this department all’s well 🙂
This second update was a bit of a mixed one. I really should do more of an effort on the ‘exercise’ and the ‘drink and eat wisely’ goals… so I guess I will have to push myself just a little bit harder… Will I succeed? Your guess is as good as mine! We’ll find out in the 3rd update on July 1st!
Love, Kathleen
