A couple of weeks ago we had the final book club gathering of our first year. We discussed ‘All the light we cannot see’ written by Anthony Doerr.
This book was my choice so I was eager to find out what my book club buddies thought about it… read on to find out!
We recently had our first book club meeting after the summer. We discussed ‘Shadow of the Wind’ by Carlos Ruiz… I was a bit reluctant to start reading this 550 pages thick book… so let me tell you what I thought about it!
Before joining our book club, I hardly read a couple of books a year, even though I love reading. So when my colleague wanted to start a book club, I immediately jumped to the idea as I thought it would be a great way to pick up reading again… and it worked!
I still owe you a ‘book club’ report from our latest gathering, nearly a month ago… I didn’t come around to write it yet, but, with a bit of delay, here it is!
This time we read ‘Gone Girl’ by Gillian Flynn. I’d heard many opinions about the book, but also about the film (with Ben Affleck). Some were really positive, others were more like ‘too many plot twists’ or ‘it didn’t grab me’ or ‘I couldn’t get into the story’,…
Anyway, the summary really appealed to me so I was rather looking forward to it. Below you can read my thoughts on this book. And what did my book club think of this read?!
Instead of the usual fashionpost on Saturday, I will post something different this time… a post about ‘the book lovers tag’!
Recently I was invited by the lovely Steph from Canada to take part in this tag. Steph has a fun blog ‘Scale it simple‘. You should check it out if you’re into books, quotes, travel and lifestyle! But now what about that ‘book lovers tag’…
Last week you could read about my mixed feelings about ‘The life-changing magic of tidying up’ and this week I will tell you a bit more about the third book we read with our book club: ‘Afterwards’ from Rosamund Lupton.
I looked forward to reading this book as the summary really appealed to me… so read on the see what I thought about it!
