“When Christmas day comes, there is still the same warm feeling we had as children, the same warmth that enfolds our hearts and our homes” – Joan Winmill Brown
I have always loved Christmas and New year, ever since I was a child. I can still feel the anxiety I had as a kid…
I was so excited to get ready; to be welcomed in a warm, beautifully decorated house; to be treated to yummy food and drinks; to play with my nephews and sisters; to hear my parents, aunts and uncles getting louder and more giggly as the evening passed; to count down to the new year; to be nervous to read my new year’s letter and to open my presents; to stay up way too late and to fall asleep under the table…
I have always loved the festive season and I still do. Those end of year activities bring so much joy and the reason why I like the season so much is because I can spend all these evenings with my family, my loved ones.
Fast forward 30-35 years… and nothing has changed… oh well… I don’t fall asleep under the table and I don’t have to read a new year’s letter anymore, but everything is still so very much the same! The food and drinks, the games and presents, the giggles and loud voices, the decorations and the countdown,… but what I cherish the most is the love and laughter… and the warmth these end of year celebrations bring to my heart!
I want to wish all of you a very merry X-mas… enjoy the festive season and cherish these moments forever and ever!
Love, Kathleen
