Today’s quote : invincible summer

“In the midst of winter, I found there was, within me, an invincible summer” – Albert Camus

Louise and Elizabeth
A carefree stroll at the shoreline… this photo of my daughter and niece sums it all up… summer = heaven!

Hear, hear to Albert Camus! At the end of summer I let you understand that summer definitely is my favorite season. And every year in winter, that becomes more and more clear.

Although winter can certainly have its good days, I am just not that fond of this season… the cold, the rain, the wind, the short days… And every year after the festive season, I start to long for summer…

I can’t wait to feel the warmth of the sun on my skin, to enjoy the long bright days, to experience the relaxed atmosphere that summer brings…

Luckily, winter has its good points, which I desperately embrace… there is of course the festive season (and I do like a good party!), going for a walk on a beautiful winter day and treating yourself to a hot chocolate (with whipped cream of course), enjoying the warmth of a long hot bath on a dull and dark Saturday evening (preferably with some soft jazz in the background), or tucked away under a blanket, reading a book (with a nice glass of wine within reach)…

But all this doesn’t have to last that long for me… so as soon as the fashion magazines are spreading the good news of what’s trending in spring and summer, as soon as those lighter fabrics and brighter colours start filling up the shops and as soon as the days start lengthening just a tiny bit, I am starting to feel better, brighter, more cheerful and I want to scream at the top of my longs “bring on summer!!!”

Love, Kathleen
