“I hate the radio this time of year because they play “All I Want For Christmas Is You” like, every other song. And that’s just not enough” – Bridger Winegar
I love music… I love to sing along, whistle away and tap my feet to whatever is on the radio. And that includes Christmas songs 🙂
So when I read this quote I just wanted to post it on my blog during Christmas time, because let’s be honest… is there a better Christmas song than the bright and cheerful ‘all I want for Christmas” song from Mariah Carey?!
Besides this Mariah Carey song, I’ve got a few other favourites which I want to hear every single year… It is however just too difficult to make a top ten, so I just put them down in no particular order…
“All I want for Christmas” – Mariah Carey (and don’t you just love that film “Love actually“?! I want to see it every year during the festive season!)
“Happy Xmas (war is over)” – John Lennon and Yoko Ono/Plastic Ono Band (a little less cheerful… but I love the meaning of it)
“Last Christmas” – Wham (cheesy… I know… but you just gotta love that videoclip 🙂 )
“Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow” – Frank Sinatra (oh that big band!!!)
“Christmas eve” – Trans-Siberian Orchestra (not very well known I guess… but just listen to it!)
“Have yourself a merry little Christmas” – Frank Sinatra (makes me want to cuddle up on the sofa with a hot chocolate and watch a soppy christmas movie…)
“Do they know it’s Christmas” – Band Aid (takes me back to 1985… all my favourite bands making a christmas song together… now that couldn’t be bad!)
“Christmas canon” – Trans-Siberian Orchestra (yip… another one from TSO… I really like this classic piece of music and those angelic voices of the children’s choir. You can listen and watch here!)
“It’s the most wonderful time of the year” – Andy Williams (so happy and cheerful… I almost want it to be Christmas the entire year!)
“Rockin’ around the Christmas tree” – Brenda Lee (and let’s twist and rock the night away!)
And so this is my Christmas song list… a mix of old and new… classic and cheesy… but they are all CHRISTMAS to me 😀
Love, Kathleen
I love the Coca-Cola xmas song from Train or Natasja Bedingfield 🙂
